Does Tequila Come With A Worm In The Bottle?
The Maguey worm inside some bottles is characteristics of certain mescals never of tequila.
Mezcal producers do this because the worms feeds on the Agave plant and it contains a concentrated essence of the plant, which and thus servers to enhance the flavor of the liquor. Worms are sought out and bred in mezcal plantations, while in Agave fields for tequila production, they are regarded as pest to be destroyed, because they weaken the plants.
